Library News

National Simultaneous Storytime

Last week students in K-2 participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, an annual event held by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools and many other places around the country. It  is a fun event  that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book. This year's book was a story called 'The Truck Cat' by Deborah Frenkel. Keep your eyes open for some great new art work that our students made for the event!

Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition

On Wednesday 11th of June students Amy Duong, Ken Hong, Jaxon Sinclair and Ryan Hong travelled to Cabramatta West Public School to represent our school in the Multicultural Perspectives public speaking competition. Students were required to present a rehearsed speech with a multicultural focus and delivered an impromptu speech in which they only had 5 minutes to prepare. The impromptu speech topics were ‘Changes’ and ‘Be Careful’. The guest adjudicator on the day stated that the students spoke clearly and linked their speeches to multiculturalism well. These students remained composed and calm throughout the day and did our school proud. Well done!
