Term 2 Highlights:
- Learning Conversations where students shared and celebrated their learning and goals with their families. Students also showcased their learning through events like Come and Read days, CTC and Grapple expos.
- Stage 1 went to the zoo, our Supernova and 100% attendance students had a great day out at Bubble Planet. We've also enjoyed incursions such as Bell Shakespeare and Backflips Against Bullying.
- Activities for our students, including the Press Gang, Happiness Headquarters, and Koori Club. Our choir, dance group, and Sound Gardens students have also brought the arts to life in our school.
- We held a Walk on Country to learn more about how we can bring our upcoming preschool, local Indigenous knowledge, and the GEPS community together.
- A day of sharing with visiting teachers from across New South Wales and online from South Australia, showcasing how the GEPS community works together to build relationships and share the joy of learning.
- Weekly PSSA, the K-2 Cross Country, and the Zone Cross Country, all of which highlighted students striving for their personal best and demonstrating great sporting spirit.
- Our student leaders, VIPs, and SRC worked hard to ensure student voices are heard in our school and supported our community through their Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser.
- P&C events such as the Mother’s Day stall and Pyjama Day – thank you, P&C volunteers!
- Reconciliation Week celebrations that included a beautiful performance by Stage 1.
- Our very dedicated office, support staff, and teachers who bring excellence in teaching and learning to life every day – and sometimes wear silly socks or celebrate Whacky Wednesday along the way, bringing an extra bit of joy to our days.
Every day, I see our students engaged in critical thinking, creative exploration, pursuing their interests, and learning deeply. They can be very proud of their Term 2 achievements.
Attendance:
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind all our students and families that these amazing things happen at school every day. This term, we recognised students who have attended school 95% or more of the time with a new award at our Celebration Assembly. I’d love to see more students on this list in Term 3 – I wonder how many students will receive that award at the end of Term 3?
Our Community:
As this term comes to an end, I would like to acknowledge the importance of our families and the GEPS community – your support and involvement are invaluable. Thank you for your engagement in our school and in your children’s learning. Together, we are creating a strong school community where every child feels valued and supported.
Thank You:
Finally, I would like to thank the GEPS students, families, and staff who have made me feel welcome and helped me become part of the GEPS family this term. I am looking forward to working with you all again in Term 3, before Ms. Reynolds returns to GEPS in Term 4.
Term 3 - Return to School: Tuesday, 22 July
Students return to school after the holidays on Tuesday, 22 July. Our first day will include a special GEPS Fest at 9 am to celebrate NAIDOC Week. I look forward to welcoming back our students and families that day.
Here’s to a fantastic Term 3 ahead!
