Principal's update

Hello everyone,
Here is the newsletter for week ten of term two.
Term two finishes next Friday the 4th of July at 2.00pm.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me.
Semester one reports and parent/teacher interviews
The teachers have completed writing semester one student reports, I would like to thank them for the time they have spent teaching, assessing and preparing reports. The reports have been published on Compass today. Parents and carers are invited to attend a parent/teacher interview on either Monday 30th of June or Tuesday 1st of July. You can book a time via Compass.
Volunteers
Thank you to the many volunteers that we have at the school. This includes people helping in the library, Breakfast Club, gardening, listening to children read and more. We welcome more volunteers at the school.
Eve has provided some information on the SAKG page about how you can help in the garden classes - no gardening skills required!
To volunteer at a school you require a working with children check. This can be completed for free online.
Who Gives a Crap fundraiser
The delivery has arrived, see the P&F page for details
Wellbeing
We now have a wellbeing page on the newsletter that I will use to share relevant wellbeing information and resources that we come across that may be useful at home or give greater understanding of some of the language children may come home using from school. I will use the school's website as an archive for the resources for future reference.
Interschool soccer
On Monday we participated in interschool soccer at Castlemaine with local schools and schools from as far as Woodend and Maryborough. We entered a girls team and a combined boys team with students from Winters Flat. The students had a great day playing matches against the other schools in their group. The boys finished on top and have progressed to the next stage at Swan Hill in August. I would like to thank our PE teacher Sam for organising the event, parents Alex and Tim for the training sessions and all parents who supported the day.
Student Pitch to Council
Last Friday I took four year 6 students to the Council Chamber at the Mount Alexander Shire Council to participate in a student ideas pitch to the Mayor session for primary schools across the shire. Students from the various schools had a range of ideas including a cubby house, toilet mirrors and help with playground rules. The Taradale students pitched an idea they called 'Connecting the Generations' where year 5/6 student from Taradale would visit older community members living in aged care to talk and learn from each other. The Mayor and Council staff were very impressed with this pitch and will do all they can to support it. Well done to the students for such a great community focussed idea.
Library survey - last opportunity to participate!
Thank you to everyone who has completed the survey so far.
The library survey is ready to complete!
We would love it if you could take 5 mins to fill it out with kiddos so we can hear from as many of them as possible. We want to ensure the library serves our whole school community. Even if you have a child who is not keen on reading, we would love to hear from you, as having the right sorts of books can go such a long way to changing reading attitudes. If they're not keen on the reading questions, just let us know what their general interests are. After we compile the results we will look at what we need to buy and where the priority areas in the school are and continue building the collection.
The survey will be open for two weeks. Scan the QR code or follow the link.

It might be a great way to spark a conversation about books, and we all need more of that!
2026 enrolments
We are currently running tours of the school and taking enrolments for 2026.
Next year we expect to be under our enrolment capacity and welcome enrolment enquiries from near and far. If you or anyone you know is interested in knowing more about enrolling at Taradale PS, please contact me.
