Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

SOVEREIGN HILL CAMP: A glimpse into the past:

Our Grade 5 students, teachers, and three parents had an incredible time at their Sovereign Hill camp in Ballarat. They stepped back into the 1850s for a few days of fun and learning, trying on old-fashioned clothes and panning for gold, and experiencing life during the Gold Rush era.

“Our visit to Sovereign Hill was full of memorable moments! Some highlights included dressing up in costumes, with Billy especially enjoying his knickerbockers. Gold panning was a new and exciting experience for many, and we even learnt about the Welcome nugget during a Mine tour. The school was so much fun as we wrote in copperplate and played old-fashioned games like ring toss. The sound and light show was also a favourite, with its impressive 3D effects adding to the fun and learning.”

Bill Fountain and Lydia Cai (students in 5DC)

The camp was an exciting mix of history, fun and hands-on activities. The students have returned with memories they’ll never forget. Thank you to our Grade 5 staff and Tayla Robertson (LSO) for organising such a great experience for our children.

ASSESSMENT CONVERSATIONS

Teachers have been hard at work writing reports, which will be distributed at the upcoming Assessment Conversations beginning Monday. These interviews should be booked through our PAM platform. These meetings are an essential part of our Reporting program, and the children are invited to attend part of the meeting to help reflect on the year so far and set some goals for the second half of 2025. At this stage, quite a few parents have not made an appointment to speak with their child’s teacher. Please do so at your earliest convenience. Assessment conversations run throughout next week. Please call our office if you are having trouble making a booking, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

COLDS / FLU

As the winter season sets in, many children are still away with colds and flu. Again, I thank parents and carers for being so vigilant in keeping unwell children at home.

Kind regards,

Karl Dwyer
