Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, often called "Corpus Christi" (which means "Body of Christ" in Latin), is a special Catholic feast day where we celebrate Jesus truly being present in the bread and wine we receive at Mass.
Imagine a very special birthday party for Jesus, but instead of cake, we focus on the Holy Communion. We believe that when the priest says the special prayers during Mass, the bread and wine actually become Jesus' body and blood. It's a mystery, and it's how Jesus stays with us even though He went back to heaven.
On Corpus Christi, we have this feast day to remember and thank Jesus for giving us Himself in this amazing way. Sometimes, churches even have a special procession where they carry the consecrated host (the bread that has become Jesus' body) in a beautiful golden holder, almost like a parade to show everyone how much we love and believe in Jesus' presence.
It's a day to remember that Jesus is truly with us, nourishing us like food and drink, and helping us to be good and holy.
