Principal's Report

Staffing News

We have recently welcomed three new Education Support teachers to SGPS. Kellie, Kylie and Emilie all officially started with us at the start of Term 3. Many will know Kylie from her time working for Camp Australia at our before and after-school care program. Kellie is familiar with our school also, having worked for us in a casual capacity for a period of time last year. Emilie is a former SGPS student and it is great to have her back with us working on a fixed casual basis. All three compliment our existing Education Support team.

Book Week

This year, Book Week will be celebrated from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd August, and the 2025 theme is Book an Adventure! Please check your child's classroom 'news' section of the newsletter for more details about how we will be celebrating Book Week.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Thanks to all families for attending the parent-teacher interviews earlier this week. Your participation is a crucial part of our school community, and your commitment to supporting your child's education is greatly appreciated.

The conversations during these meetings help us work together to ensure the best possible learning environment and outcomes for all of our students. If you have any further questions or need additional support, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.

NAPLAN Results

The delivery of NAPLAN reporting packages to schools began last week. We received our package on Tuesday last week and have sent individual reports home with students. Please contact your child's teacher if you have not received this package. Included in the envelope was a printed Individual Student Report (ISR) for each student who participated in NAPLAN in 2025.

NAPLAN tests are only one aspect of each school’s assessment and reporting process. As they are held once every 2 years for each student, they cannot replace the extensive, ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance. Your child’s teacher will have the best insight into your child’s educational progress. Along with other school assessment reports, NAPLAN individual student reports can be used to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher.

I will share a summary with the school community once these have been shared and discussed with School Council.

Front Garden

Please support us to keep our gardens looking beautiful by talking to your children about using the paths, and avoiding taking shortcuts through the gardens. Tanya, our gardener, does an amazing job and we can all do our bit to support the work she does.

School Crossing

The school crossing is supervised from 8.00am-8.50am and 3.00pm-3.40pm by our friendly crossing supervisor, Sam. Please make sure your children always use the crossing when they are crossing Spring Gully Road during these times. We regularly observe dangerous situations and want to ensure all of our children are safe.
