SUSTAINABILITY NEWS
Wow, what a busy semester we have had, working on Sustainability. Here are some of the highlights of our year so far!
- Year five and six students attended the CERES School of Environment and Leadership Student Leadership Summit. They worked on creating a sustainable vision for our school community with other like-minded young leaders, investigating knowledge in waste, energy, and biodiversity through hands-on activities.
- Junior students brainstormed ways to cut down classroom paper usage and are in the process of making recycled paper trays for every classroom
- Melbourne Girls' College invited us to send a team of 12 students to their "Pedalathon" - students pedalled stationary bikes, to create energy which was be converted and stored in a battery. This battery power was then used the following evening to power the projector for the MGC community movie night.
- Year 5 students took part in the Victorian School Champions Program Ideas Exchange. The aim was to discover how we could take action for the environment while raising funds to support Trinity’s sustainability dreams. A highlight was the rare opportunity to share ideas and and be inspired by other students from a diverse range of backgrounds, who are passionate about making a difference.
- “The Trinity Trash Transformers!” were created - bringing the Container Deposit Scheme to Trinity, beginning Term 3.
- The Compost Ninja team collect our food scraps every day and feed them to the worms. By doing this, we save so much waste from going to landfill, helping to reduce methane gas, and therefore global warming.
Have a break week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
