We are very grateful to be able to run a gardening program for Stage 2 students here at NCS. Throughout the year students from Year 3 and Year 4 take turns caring for our garden.
Every week we are amazed at God's creation as we explore the garden. We have loved discovering tiny creatures in our garden. From bees who loved our basil flowers to wriggly worms who keep our soil lovely healthy. We even discovered a few cheeky caterpillars eating our cabbages. We have been thrilled to watch tiny seeds grow into luscious looking plants and even more excited to find tasty treats ready to eat.
Our bountiful harvest this term has included, eggplants, cauliflower, cabbage, coriander, and capsicums and more. Using some of our homegrown goodies we were even able to taste test some super fresh rice paper rolls.
What a wonderful year we have had in the garden so far.
Kindergarten students had an amazing day exploring at the University of Wollongong's Discovery Space on Friday of Week 8.
For many, the trip up was their first time on a bus and they loved pointing to familiar landmarks along the way. At the centre itself, we stayed in our class groups and explored each play space.
The crowd favourite was the cave with bats inside. There were squeals of delight as they climbed through the darkened room. Here's what Kindy had to say:
"The cave was fun and a little bit scary" - Lylah
"I liked playing with the dolls" - Sophie
"The water pushed the submarine to the end of the creek" - Lenard
"My favourite was the cave and the ship" - Macey
"We were playing in the ambulance that I had a heart attack" - Avah
"I liked the tents. I liked hiding in them" - Madeline
"There were big rocks and pretend bats in the cave" - Sidney
"I loved putting the ball inside the wall maze" - Mikaela
Danica Kyle of Year 12, her family and Ms Axtens (Careers Advisor) recently attended the Shoalhaven Schools Excellence in Vocational Education & Training Awards.
We’re thrilled to announce that Danica was awarded VET Student of the Year - Human Services! Danica has been completing the Human Services Allied Health Assistant course as part of her HSC studies, and this award recognises her outstanding commitment, skill, and passion in the field.
Well done, Danica - we’re so proud of you!
Recently Year 3 took on a fun and challenging STEM Design task. The students were asked to design and build a rollercoaster for a ping pong ball to travel along.
With only a limited set of materials it was amazing to see all the different designs the students came up with. Bringing their designs to life posed lots of challenges. The students showed team work and resilience in order to complete their projects. There was a lot of trial and error as the students learnt the importance of reflecting on their designs in order to make improvements.
Well done year 3!

On Friday of Week 8 I went to Sydney to represent Nowra Christian school for CSSA soccer trials. I had to play six lots of sixteen minute games.
After the six games the coaches/managers picked twenty players. Then those twenty players played one more game. Then the coaches/managers had to pick twelve out of the twenty players in the final gams, if they made it they would be in the CIS team.
Congratulations to Khloe and Maddison H from Year 9 on their selection in the 2025 Charles Perkins XI squad for the CommBank Emerging Matildas Championships this July. This squad showcases some of the top Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth football talent from across Australia. This is an outstanding achievement – we’re so proud of your efforts and determination and wish you both all the best for the Championships!

On Wednesday 18 June I went to Rooty Hill in Sydney for the Primary CSSA State Gymnastics Competition. I have been training for up to five hours a week for most of the year to perform my routines and disciplines at Level 4 standard.
I warmed up at 11:45am and afterwards started to compete in my first apparatus, which was ‘beam’. I performed better than expected scoring 9.1160 out of a possible 10. My second apparatus was ‘floor’ and I think I stretched more than usual and I landed my front hand-spring perfectly!
For my third apparatus, ‘vault’, my jump was high and my handstand flat-back landing was incredible. Finally, in my last apparatus, bars, I didn’t do as well as I hoped as perhaps the bars were a bit too ‘chalky’. I felt nervous that I wouldn’t have enough power to perform a ‘pull over’.
It was a tough competition, but I got through it and finished every apparatus. After everyone finished we had the presentations. When it was time for level 4, they started with ‘beam’ and they went from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. When they called for the first place winner, they said my name! I got first place for beam.
I came 12th overall and was so proud of myself. I have done gymnastics since I was five years old and this was my first time getting first place in ‘beam’.
On Friday 27 June, 53 Secondary students represented NCS at the CSSA South Coast Zone Secondary Athletics Carnival held at Beaton Park, Wollongong.
It was a fantastic day showcasing enthusiasm, teamwork and athletic talent. NCS students featured in nearly every event, helping our team achieve an impressive 2nd place overall, with a number of students qualifying for the CSSA State Athletics Carnival in Term 3.
A huge thank you to our wonderful parents and carers for their ongoing support, and a special shoutout to Mr, Mrs and Hamish McLaren for their generous help with officiating and photography.
Congratulations to our Age Champions for their outstanding performances:
Well done to all students involved!
On Thursday 19 June, Miss Axtens and ten Years 10-12 students attended a Nursing and Health Careers Workshop at the University of Wollongong Shoalhaven Campus.
Students have career goal including: nursing, medical doctor and various allied health positions. It was a very busy and interesting time with a hands-on biomechanical session, an interactive nursing session, an information session and an opportunity to meet industry partners.
We finished the time checking out a Mobile Outreach Mental Health and Wellbeing Van where we got to colour-in and chill while we waited for our bus back to school. Students found the experience fun and informative.
Year 9 student, Benjamin G, has discovered a passion and skill for ballroom dancing and recently competed in a Ballroom Dancing competition in Sydney.
It was an early start, with a 4:30am wake-up to prepare for the big day. Travelling to Sydney, Benjamin arrived ready and excited to compete. The atmosphere was electric, with many dancers gathered to share their love for ballroom dancing.
Partnering with Ari, the dance couple performed beautifully in three dance styles: the Cha Cha, Waltz, and Quickstep. Their hard work and teamwork paid off, winning three first-place medals.
Congratulations Benjamin on this wonderful achievement!
