MPS SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATE – JUNE 2025

This week’s final Term 2 School Council meeting was full of exciting updates and future-focused plans to keep our school community thriving. Here’s a quick snapshot:

🙏 Thank You to Our School Council Members Firstly, a big thank you to our dedicated School Council members who generously volunteer their time and talents throughout the year. Each member energetically brings their unique skills, experiences, and perspectives to our strong and diverse team working together to drive positive change.

🏀 New Gymnasium – Almost Ready to Go! We’re so close! Our shiny new gym is well on track to open by Term 4. This awesome new space will host everything from physical education to school assemblies. At our first Term 3 council meeting we will be reviewing the proposals from local sports clubs, our existing after-school care & canteen providers to confirm usage arrangements once the gym opens, ensuring it becomes a vibrant, well-utilised space for both school and community benefit.

🏐 Court Resurfacing – Term 4

Planning is well advanced for the resurfacing of our outdoor basketball court at the conclusion of the gym construction works, with a brand-new acrylic surface and updated line markings for multiple ball sports. These upgrades will provide our students with another high-quality and safer space to stay active, develop skills, and play together.

🛝 Play Area – A Hit Already! The recently finished play space is proving to be a new lunchtime favourite! It’s colourful, engaging, and a popular hangout for our students.

🛠️ Thank you to our Working Bee volunteers! Thank you so much to Chris Wende for coordinating, and the many MPS families who rolled up their sleeves at last Saturday’s working bee. From sprucing up gardens to repainting benches and the four-square courts, you have made an enormous difference!

🎉 Shoutout to Our P&F Committee The P&F have been busy bringing fun and community spirit with many fantastic events recently. Plus, they’ve also now set up MPS in the 10c container deposit scheme - an easy, eco-friendly way for families to contribute whilst also teaching kids about recycling. Every can and bottle counts! Check out the P&F newsletters & noticeboard for more details.

💬 Enhancing School Communication We are currently exploring strategies to improve the flow of communication to better keep you in the loop! This includes reviewing and upgrading the school website to make it more user-friendly, informative, and up to date. Whether it’s updates, reminders, or opportunities to get involved, our goal is to make school communication more streamlined and easily accessible for everyone.

💛 Voluntary Contributions – Thank You! On behalf of School Council I would like to extend a sincere thank you to every family that has already made this year’s voluntary contribution. Your support plays a vital role in enhancing the learning environment and providing valuable resources for our students.

For those who have not contributed yet, it’s not too late! Every contribution, no matter the size, helps our school continue to deliver the best possible education and opportunities for every student.

Please note: any donations made specifically to the Building Fund before 30 June 2025 are tax deductible, making now a great time to consider contributing if you haven’t already.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly via email sean.abell@education.vic.gov.au with any questions or feedback.

Kind regards,

Sean Abell
