Child Safe Standards
We are currently undertaking our two-yearly review of the Child Safe standards and how we are ensuring our school is a Child Safe environment for all our students. This is Child Safe standard 10. For those of you who may not be aware, The Child Safe standards were introduced in 2016 and then were updated with new stronger standards in 2022. Below are the standards.
Our school is committed to the safety and well-being of all children. We want children attending our school to be safe, happy and respected. The child safe standards require schools to take steps to prevent child abuse and build a culture of child safety. All our child safety and well-being policies are available on our website. These include A Child Safety Code of Conduct. I encourage all families to read the policies and to provide feedback at any time to me on any of the policies or procedures that we have in place.
Beanie Day
On Tuesday we held our Beanie Day fundraiser to raise funds to beat brain cancer. Student wore beanies and our gold coins will be put towards beating brain cancer. There was a colourful array of beanies across the school for a great cause.
New Book Library
Last Friday at assembly our student well-being leaders shared their newly finished little library. This will be installed in the atrium to enable students to choose a book and enjoy it during lunchtime and recesses. The students have put a lot of work into the library, and it certainly will bring joy to the atrium and those students that love to escape into the magic of a book some days.
Student leaders
I would like to take the opportunity to thank our 4 student leaders (Captains) who are doing a wonderful job of leading our assemblies. It has been terrific to see their confidence growing and to observe their confidence in presenting to a large group of students and visitors each Friday. It is not an easy thing to do but they do it with finesse and joy. It is equally wonderful to see our RAP leaders proudly making the Acknowledgment of Traditional Owners at each of our gatherings. Whilst the Captains are year 6 students, our RAP leaders are from years 1-5 and it great to see their confidence growing as well as an opportunity to perform such an important and special role.
We are nearing the end of term 2 with only two weeks to go before the mid-year break. The children are starting to show signs of lots of learning (in other words, they’re tired!) and I am sure they are counting the days down and looking forward to many sleep ins when the holidays arrive.
For now, I hope that you have a lovely weekend!
