From the Houses

Rice House

Wow! Where has the time gone? We can hardly believe we are saying farewell to our wonderful Year 12 students. As you move forward, we hope you embrace the challenges ahead with the same determination and passion you’ve shown here. Remember, this is not just an ending, but the beginning of new adventures. Whether you’re heading to university, pursuing a career, or exploring new paths, carry with you the lessons learned and the friendships forged.

Cherish these moments, support one another, and believe in yourselves. You have the potential to make a significant difference in the world. We are incredibly proud of you and excited for what lies ahead.

As the boys reflect on their time at MEBS, here are three words that sum up their experiences:
WILLGrowth, Interdependence, Empowerment
EWANMemories, Friendship, Resilience
RONANMateship, Family, Memories
HARVEYAdventurous, Exciting, Beautiful
ANGUSWill, Always, Remember

Thank you for everything you boys have contributed. We will genuinely miss your laughter, humour, and the joy you bring to our community.

As you prepare for your final days, the Year 11 students are ramping up their studies, reflecting on their preliminary exams, and seeking feedback to fill gaps in their learning while forming lasting friendships and memories here at boarding school.

The Year 10s have been busy finalising their end-of-term assessments and submitting subjects for their final years of study. Ted Pearce has been completing his welding course at TAFE, while Sam Thomson has finished his five-week AGSTEM course, coding and building a weather station.

It has been wonderful to see the Year 9s creating memories while continuing their studies.

The Year 8s have been enjoying basketball with the Year 7s and Year 9s, taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather. A special mention goes to Sam Douglas, who won the Under 14 Hume League Best and Fairest—a tremendous achievement and testament to his talent. Charlie Patey and Sam Douglas also triumphed in their Currie Cup game, advancing to Tuggerah—well done, boys!

The Year 7 boys have settled in nicely, getting accustomed to the routine and building strong friendships and study habits as they prepare for their future schooling. Nick C has started cadets, following in the footsteps of Anthony W!

The junior boys loved the laser tag outing as an end-of-term treat, and as always, they enjoyed the PCYC pickleball and basketball.

We are thrilled to welcome our new boarder, Ashton Botes, to our community! Ashton brings enthusiasm and a fresh perspective, and we are excited for you to get to know him. Let’s all extend a warm hand of friendship and support as he settles in.

We hope everyone has a safe holiday that is filled with rest and study for the Year 12’s. And hope to see you refreshed ready for the last Term of the year!!!

GOOD LUCK IN THE HSC, IT WILL ALL WORK OUT IN THE END

Nagle House

It has been lovely to see the sun out in the last few weeks and it has had a positive effect on our boarders. The term is flying by and the girls have kept busy. Sadly it is not long before our Year 12s will be doing final exams and we will be saying goodbye. Our boarding community is what makes Nagle House so special and, this term we have made some new happenings that will form memories.

At the start of term, we welcomed Laura who has settled into boarding well and celebrated her birthday with her peers. She has already made some great friends.

The  Year 12s started their HSC Trial Exams in Week 3, the girls were given “HSC Survival Kits” with everything they would need to help them through the exam period. At the time of publishing the Year 12s will have finished their Trials and will be preparing for their HSC exams which begin in Term 4. We wish all Year 12 students the very best with their exams.

Nagle House Karaoke night enjoyed great participation, especially from the junior girls. There was a huge selection of songs on offer for the girls to sing along to, including Queen, Disney songs, rock anthems, 80s pop, and more. But by far the most popular artist of the night was ABBA. Everyone sang along when Waterloo and Mamamia were played. All the girls got up and had a go at a song of their choice, they had great fun and we hope to organize another karaoke night in the future.

During the term, the girls in Years 10, 11 & 12 were given an informative PPEP talk which they found very informative. We were also given some useful resources.

Malle and Ella started this jigsaw at the beginning of the term. It has really tested all our skills and patience but the girls persevered and it was finally finished last week.

Our common area has the addition of an Olympic flag which Australian gold recipients were added as the games progressed. It has been exciting to see so many gold medals Australia won and will continue throughout the Paralympics.

Scarlett recently competed in the Eisteddfod in Leeton competing against Leeton High School and primary school despite the tough competition Kildare came out on top.

I had the opportunity to sing:

Found/Tonight

Story of my life

Winter Hymnal

Cups it was such a great experience and I would definitely do it next year!!!

Life As A Boarder

For those who live far away, Mount Erin Boarding School is certainly the place to be. You may be scared at first to go to a boarding school, like you might miss your family, but as you get to know everyone, they all become your friends and it is like just having a big sleepover every night! (for four nights a week).

Instead of having to catch a bus and wake up early in the morning, with all the stress that you will miss your bus, you could just wake up at the boarding house and be able to get to school way quicker than any other day student. Also, you get lunch orders every single day at school.

Living at Mount Erin Boarding School has definitely helped us with being independent, choosing what we eat and drink, and being responsible for packing our own bags both for school and for the boarding house.

Boarding has also helped us socialize more instead of being on our phones the whole time, it has also helped us make new friends. MEBS provides a lot of opportunities including access to sports or an after-school activity you would like to attend. Once a Week we can go downtown for about an hour each week. We have the opportunity to buy necessities that we may need or just buy an ice cream or an after-school snack.

It is an experience you will never forget!

So far it has been a great term and we look forward to what the rest of the term will bring.
