2025 Prep Transition 

It's the time of year when we begin to welcome our incoming 2025 Prep Students (current Year 4 Kinder students) to Valkstone Primary School for their orientation sessions. We do this to ease their transition into formal schooling and for several other important purposes:

  • Familiarisation with the environment: It allows children to become familiar with our school layout, classrooms and facilities, therefore reducing anxiety about the new setting. 
     
  • Meeting teachers and staff: Children get to meet some of our teachers and other school staff, helping them feel more comfortable with some of the adults they'll interact with. 
     
  • Social interaction: It provides an opportunity for children to meet and interact with their future classmates, potentially forming early friendships. 
     
  • Reducing separation anxiety: By gradually exposing children to the school environment, it can help reduce separation anxiety when the actual school year begins. 
     
  • Building excitement: These sessions can help build positive anticipation for starting school, framing it as an exciting new adventure.

I look forward to welcoming our newest members of the Valkstone Primary School community to our school and partnering with their families to provide a nurturing, enriching start to their school journey.

 

Please find below the dates and times of our transition sessions. (More detailed information will be e-mailed out to families.) Please note that these sessions are only for children who are enrolled for Prep in 2025 here at Valkstone Primary. 

 

Session 1 - Wednesday 30th October (9:30 - 10:30 a.m.)

Session 2 - Wednesday 13th November (9:30 - 10:30 a.m.)

Session 3 - Wednesday 27th November (9:30 - 10:30 a.m.)

 

* Session 4 - Tuesday 10th December (9:15 - 9:45 a.m.)

 

*Please note that during this final session children will meet their 2025 classroom teacher in their 2025 classroom. This is held at the same time as our school-wide 'step-up session' where all children from Prep - Year 5 meet with their 2025 class.
