BUSINESS MANAGEMENT MARKET DAY
MRS MONIQUE WATT - YEAR 11 BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TEACHER
In Year 11 Business Management, students have been learning about Marketing a business. This term, students have put into practice their learning by completing market research and implementing different marketing techniques to run a ‘Carnival’. The red court area was a hive of fun on Tuesday 10th September as students ran their activities. All profits raised will go towards supporting students doing the Yamagata exchange.
Some information from the students about their activities
In Business Management our activity for the small business was a beanbag toss game called FunHouse Toss. Although being nervous to start with, it was fun to cheer on every score that was successful and it made us proud of all the effort that was put into organising it. It was really good to see numerous supporters participating on the day and many walking away with prizes.

Our activity for the business management carnival day was mini golf. Students took turns attempting an easy looking 2 meter putt that proved quite difficult with only 2 winners for the whole day. It was good to see a wide range of ages from year 7 to year 11 having a go. It was good to see the support and encouragement from the older students when the younger students stepped up. The day went smoothly and everyone (even if not participating) got around it. In the end, we made $15 profit.

We ran an activity where students purchased a snow cone and then played Jenga for a chance to get a raffle ticket. Prizes included a $15 canteen voucher, as well as additional snow cones. We were overwhelmed by the number of customers we had at lunch and it was full-on with snow cones. This was a very fun activity and we made a profit of $77.

For the carnival, our group decided to run a stall called the Lucky Ducks. This involved a bucket filled with soapy water and little plastic ducks at the bottom. The aim of the game was to pick up the ducks with chopsticks for the chance to win a prize. It was a fun but stressful experience to organise and run a business for the day. Through this experience we were able to make a profit of $27.
