STUDENTS OF THE WEEK - CATHOLIC VALUE AWARD
This week our Saint Hero is St Cosmas and St Damian who displayed the value of Wisdom. In the first week of term 4 our Saint Hero will be St Francisco & St Jacinta Marto who displayed the value of Trustworthiness. We encourage you to discuss each Saint and their value with your child/ren, helping them to learn how they can live out our Christian values.
CATHERINE MCAULEY CHARISM AWARD
As the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, Catherine McAuley was highly regarded for her innovative skills, generosity, and ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve greatness. The intention of our Catherine McAuley Charism Award is to acknowledge students who have followed the school rules and exhibited the values shown by Catherine McAuley. As explained previously, teachers are encouraged to look for these attributes within their class group throughout the year. Worthy recipients were announced after our end of term mass this morning. They will receive a certificate followed up with a letter of commendation in the mail.
Congratulations to Our Term 3 Recipients
FEAST OF OUR LADY & FRIDAY CLASS MASSES
Monday 7th October is the Feast of Our Lady. To celebrate this special event, we will be holding a whole school liturgy at 9.15am in the church. This will be followed by classroom activities whereby students have been encouraged to invite a grandparent or special person to participate in our school’s special day.
Our first Friday mass for term 4 will be held on Friday 18th October, and our Foundation students will attend. Please refer to below schedule for other upcoming masses.
BELGIUM VISIT - INTENSIVE ESCI STUDY COURSE
Thanks to the amazing research studies that are been undertaken by KU Leuven, I have returned this week with some clearer directions about how to support our schools within the Sandhurst diocese to become Catholic dialogue Schools. Professor Didier Pollefeyt and Dr Jan Bouwens are experts in the field of theology and the Dean of the Faculty of Theology Benedicte Lenmelijn a personal advisor to Pope Francis. It was a privilege not only to meet these individuals but to work alongside them and tap into the wealth of knowledge they possess. My only disappointment was finding out the Pope is visiting the University on the 27th of September, to celebrate KU’s 600th year of education. Established in 1425, KU Leuven is the oldest university in the world. As a Catholic, it is wonderful feeling to know we have always been leaders in the field of education. In term 4 I will be working with staff to develop their skills as Specialist, Witness, Moderator.
