Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,

National Administrative Professionals' Day, also known as Secretaries Day

On Tuesday 7th May we celebrated National Administrative Professionals' Day, also known as Secretaries Day which fell on 3rd May, and recognises the professionals who keep an office running smoothly every day.

While the leadership team takes the lead with school-wide approaches, and teachers take on the responsibility for the day-to-day learning and teaching, it is usually the school administration professionals who are the keeper of the pulse of the entire school.

# It's the administration professionals who are at the front line of the school communication - answering phones, greeting visitors, welcoming new families, and scheduling appointments.

# It's the administrative professionals who maintain school records and dispense sage advice.

# It's the administrative professionals who are always there with an ice pack or band-aid when a child is hurt, a calm voice when parents are upset, and a sympathetic ear when teachers are under the pump.

And so for all of the above, we are very grateful for our administrative professionals in Mel Salvestrin, Angela Sauer, Sue Kellett, Amanda Allen, Hannah Barnes, Robin Wilson & Monika Joubert.

Thank you ladies.

Dr Cameron Stelzer - The Story Doctor

What a wonderful week it has been with Dr Cameron Stelzer here sharing his many words of wisdom and expertise as a well known author. Being present at some of these sessions, it was wonderful to notice the high level of engagement of students and hearing their excellent responses to Dr Stelzer's questions. In speaking with some of the students it was wonderful to hear their positive feedback in relation to this experience being offered at our school.

Big thanks to Mrs Carla Michell for her outstanding organisation of this event.

Newcastle Knights Visit

Today we enjoyed a wonderful surprise with members of the Newcastle Knights team visiting the school and spending some time interacting with the students. It was wonderful to hear the great questions asked by the students that addressed the many components on how to be a successful professional athletes. After our Q and A session the children engaged in some fun gross motor activities that tested their skills with the footy. Thanks to the Knights Management for being available to come in today and also Mr Mike Cashman (Grandfather of Bailee 1L) and Natasha Gippel for their work in making this happen for our students.

I am looking forward to our wonderful Mother's Day celebrations with our school community tomorrow. Let's hope the weather remains beautiful!

Until next week,

Keep smiling,

Alison Hatton
