Family Breakfast

This Friday we celebrate Mother’s Day with a family breakfast from 7am at our Errol Street Campus. We hope to see as many families as possible from both our Junior and Senior Campuses come together for this event to celebrate special family members. Thank you to our P&F Association for organising and running this event.

Next week is Education Week (13th May to 17th May). Education Week is an annual celebration of education in Victoria. This year’s theme is ‘Spotlight on STEM’, which highlights the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in our everyday lives, in the classroom, and beyond.

At NMPS we are celebrating Education Week with our Open Classroom events in each year level. Please refer to our Compass post to see what’s happening in your child’s classroom. We look forward to sharing the wonders of STEM with families.

Education Support (ES) Appreciation Day

On Tuesday 16th May we will celebrate the work our wonderful Education Support (ES) staff do at NMPS. Education Support Personnel Day is a day to honour and recognise the extraordinary contribution Education Support staff make to education. We thank our ES staff for all that they do in classrooms, in the office, in the sickbay, across wellbeing, in the kitchen and garden, and in maintaining the school. Our school wouldn’t run as smoothly as it does without the support of each and every one of our ES staff members - so to the NMPS ES team we say THANK-YOU.

Welcome New Staff

While we are thanking our wonderful ES staff, we would also like to officially introduce some of our new ES team members. Welcome to David West who started at NMPS last Monday. David is working predominately at our Errol Street Campus four days a week. Next week, we welcome Nyssa Levings who will also join our ES team. Nyssa will be working at NMPS two days a week.

School Saving Bonus

You may have seen the recent announcement of the School Saving Bonus, as part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25. We are sharing more information about how families will be able to access and use this support.

This one-off support will include $400 for each eligible student to help families cover the costs of school uniforms and activities in 2025.

It will be available to parents and carers of every child enrolled in a Victorian government school in 2025.

Cash will not be paid directly to individuals or families. Instead, families will receive the bonus as credits on their school accounts that will help meet the costs of your children’s activities and uniforms.

Existing supports

The School Saving Bonus support will be in addition to existing and continuing means-tested supports for camps, sports, excursions and uniforms.

The application-based Affordable School Uniform program, through State Schools’ Relief, will continue to be available to families experiencing financial hardship or other forms of vulnerability and short-term crisis. This program allows schools to make multiple applications for support on parents' behalf throughout the year if needed.

There will be more information and guidance about the School Saving Bonus in Term 3, 2024, ahead of its implementation in 2025.
