Risotto is an Italian rice dish that takes patience and care to prepare. Students expertly diced their onions, leeks and carrots, then warmed some olive oil in their saucepans to which they added and sweated their onions, garlic and celery. We were thankful to have leeks and celery harvested from our own garden. Next they added some carrots, leeks and arborio rice till it was translucent. Taking it in turns, students stirred the mix continually for 10 minutes, then ladle by ladle they added in the home made vegetable stock. Great care was taken to ensure the rice was not sticking to the bottom and the liquid was absorbed before adding another ladle of stock. Once the rice was 'al dente' (to bite), some butter was stirred through, a little seasoning of sea salt and pepper, then spooned into their serving bowls and decorated with more harvested garden produce.
Together we all enjoyed the meal, then with empty bowls in front of us, teams rated their dish as if they were in a restaurant.

Delicioso -
Texture:
The rice was soft and the vegetables were cooked well and crunchy.
Taste:
It was yummy because of the fresh vegetable stock that went into the rice.
Test:
When I first tasted it the rice tasted a little hard but afterwards it tasted softer.

We have discussed and we think it is a 4 out of 5. We think this because, too much pepper, the rice is too thick and there's not enough cheese. But the brothy stuff added a beautiful texture.

Taste like:
So the texture is like porridge and it tastes really good.
Smelt like:
Fried rice and cheese.
While cooking:
While we were cooking it smelled like mac and cheese.
Further Comments:
Tastes good with cheese and helps with being more creamy too.

It had a smooth texture with a strong tangy taste. Made up of lots of flavours including vegetable stock, leek and garlic. It's a good family meal as its healthy, tasty and easy to make. The only down side was its quite time consuming but definitely worth it.

Comments:
Ronin overdid it with the pepper!
Andrej - didn't like the pepper, took away the flavours.
Miles.
If I had to give a rating for how good the food was, I would give it a solid 8.5 / 10. The rice was nice and soft but still sticky and the vegetables mixed in perfectly with the rice. The only thing I didn't like was the pepper. I felt like it just took all the flavour out and replaced it with its own flavour.
I like how the vegetables were cut in a diced way. The reason for that is that when the vegetables went in your mouth you could chew it for only a few seconds, before the full flavour came out. The food smelt like the food in my dreams, so I enjoyed it very much.
Year 5 all suggest that you prepare a risotto tonight!
