Cruising on the Swan

Last Friday night a magical evening unfolded as students from Year 10 & 11 set sail aboard the elegant Crystal Swan, departing from Barrack Street Jetty. The highlight was the unbelievable dancing that took place on the main floor, with DJ Jono keeping the dancefloor pumping for the entire event.

Another thing that couldn't be missed was how amazing all the students looked. From stylish attire to beaming smiles, each student brought their own flair to the evening. Students disembarked at Barrack St Jetty with beaming smiles and memories to last a lifetime. Until next time, here's to more adventures on the horizon!

100 Days to Go!

Tuesday marked a significant milestone in our Year 12’s educational journeyas it was precisely 100 days until they will proudly graduate from St. George’s Anglican Grammar School. In honour of this milestone, the school designed special T-shirts, given to our Year 12s who were invited  to wear them along with jeans and casual shoes.

We wish all our Year 12s all the best for their final 100 days here at St George’s.

Year 11/12 ESTs & Exams

Term Two is always an exciting time as students prepare for their Externally Set Tasks and/or their Semester One exams. These exams are not only a reflection of a student’s academic progress but also an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. To help you excel in your exams, here are some essential tips to guide you through the preparation process:

Plan Your Study Schedule

Start by creating a detailed study schedule that allocates sufficient time for reviewing each subject or topic. Break down your study sessions into manageable chunks and set specific goals for each study session. Planning will help you stay organised and make the most of your study time.

Review Class Materials

Go back to your class notes, textbooks, and any additional study materials provided by your teachers. Pay close attention to key concepts, formulas, and definitions covered throughout the semester. Use color-coded notes, diagrams, or mnemonic devices to aid your memory.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Practice is crucial for EST and exam success. Work past papers, practice questions, and quizzes to familiarise yourself with the format and types of questions you may encounter. Set up mock assessments under timed conditions to simulate the experience and assess your readiness.

Seek Clarification

Don't hesitate to seek clarification from your teachers or classmates if you're struggling with any concepts or topics. Ask questions during class, or schedule one-on-one meetings with your teachers for additional support.

Take Care of Yourself

Amidst the hustle and bustle of your preparation, don't forget to take care of yourself. Get plenty of sleep, eat good meals, and take regular breaks to recharge your mind and body. Incorporate stress-relief techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or physical exercise to stay calm and focused.

Stay Positive

Maintain a positive mindset and believe in your abilities. Celebrate your progress along the way and don't let setbacks discourage you.

EST Information:

  • ESTs will take place during class times in Week 4, starting on 6 May. Students should have been informed when each of these assessments take place.
  • Semester One Exams start on 16 May, in Week 5 and conclude at the end of the following week, on 24 May.
  • Our usual assessment policy applies for these assessments.
  • Students are only needed at school during their exams and are expected to be in full winter school uniform.
  • If students wish to see a teacher for help in preparation for their exams they are asked to make an appointment, to ensure the teacher is available.
  • If students wish to come to school to study, they must be in full winter school uniform, sign in at reception and they may use the library. We would also suggest that the city library is a great alternative.
