Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Welcome to Week 3

We have been so very lucky to have enjoyed a beautiful weekend of weather recently and some sunshine so far this week. Please remember that hats are no longer a required part of the uniform as of today - please refer to our Sun Safety Policy for further information.

Community Anzac Day Service

I could not have been more proud when attending the Miners Rest Community ANZAC Day Service with our School Captains and Vice-Captains on Thursday of last week. Our leaders represented our school perfectly, as well as demonstrating their high levels of personal leadership on the day. On conclusion of the service, a number of community members made the time to approach our students and congratulate them on their contributions to this significant community event. Congratulations and thank you to Caitlin M, Indi G, Layla P and Hamish P.

Curriculum Day

Last Friday the staff engaged in a day of professional learning focusing on the effective and engaging teaching of Mathematics. Teachers had a deep dive into the new Maths Curriculum and collaboratively developed challenging tasks and explored current best practices through evidence-based research. A positive day that will no doubt impact on the teaching and leaning of Maths across our school.

Parent Survey

I would sincerely like to thank each and every parent who took the time and made the effort to complete our Parent Survey, which is directly related to our upcoming School Review - your input is really important to us and your contributions are valued.

School Review

Speaking of the School Review, this process will be undertaken from May 23 of this term. As explained previously, the School Review is a very important process for the school to be involved in, involving an external reviewer, external School Principals and the Senior Education Improvement Leader for our region. The process will include a detailed reflection of the past four years and, following the findings from the review,  strategic planning for the following four years at Miners Rest Primary School. Further details will be provided in the next newsletter.

Assembly

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our school assembly this Friday.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Kylie Nissen.
