ANZAC Day commemorates sacrifice, it shows mateship at its finest and it is part of what has brought countries together. For our children, it opens their eyes to see how people work together. It demonstrates that even though something horrible was happening, by working together, they were able to get through. Through discussing the history behind Anzac Day, young children come to better understand the value and need for peace.
In acknowledgement of Anzac Day, we talked to the children briefly about what it was about, and shared 2 stories together, Anzac Ted and Lest we Forget.
We also decided to make some yummy Anzac Biscuits to share for afternoon tea. The children helped to measure out the ingredients, mix them all together and then use a cookie scoop to drop balls onto the baking tray. Kinder smelt so good when the biscuits were in the oven. After lunch we shared the anzacs and most of the children had seconds, they were perfect and chewy and very delicious!
We would love to invite you to tour our kindergarten. For tours, please contact Charlotte (kindergarten director) on 98971265 or register here (via our website).
