Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community

Prayer

First Reconciliation

Congratulations  to our two Year Four students Kaitlyn and Callix who celebrated a very important part in their faith journey by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time yesterday. Later in May they will receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time with their fellow Year Four candidates.

Good Samaritan Award

Congratulations to our Good Samaritan Award recipients announced at today's assembly:

Eva (Foundation), Aiden (Year One), Joseph (Year Two), Luke (Year Three and nominated 3 times), Eva (Year Three), Massie (Year Four), Brenton (Year Four), Kaitlyn (Year Four) and Connor (Year Six)

ANZAC Day Ceremony

Thank you to Marty who helped our school revisit ANZAC Day when our students resumed school last Friday. In a thought provoking ceremony our students were able to reflect upon the themes of courage, selflessness and the need to strive for peace within our own lives.

Soccer Goals/Bike Rack

Thank you James for organising the new soccer goal that has been placed in the school yard this week. Soccer is probably the most popular sport of a lunchtime amongst our older students, and the new goal is proving most popular.

Thank you to Sammy our gardener/cleaner/maintenance man who has resurrected the bike racks from the maintenance shed. With the increasing number of students riding bikes and scooters to school this year the racks will prove very popular.

Winter Is Almost Here!

Finbar, Emmet and Callix wearing school beanies. The beanies are available from the uniform shop.

Cyber Safety Talk

Our students from Year Two to Year Six were given a most informative talk this morning, about the dangers of interacting with strangers online and of the need to be aware of the risks of sharing information. Our students are entering into a world where there is a very real need to be discerning about their on line activity. Constable Andrew Morton addressed our students with what for all present including staff, was a very strong and sobering message.

Long Service Leave

I will be going on Long Service Leave tomorrow Friday 3rd May and will return on Thursday 16th May. During this period Antoinette will be Acting Principal.

The "wrapping" mornings are Tuesday 7th May and Thursday 9th May.

All gifts will be $5.00 and our students will be able to purchase a maximum of two gifts.

We will also have a Mother's Day Raffle next week  1`with tickets being sold as of Monday after school. The raffle will be drawn on Friday. Tickets will be 50cents or three for $1.00.

Year Six Students Spectrum Visit

Some of our Year Six students have visited Spectrum the last four Tuesdays. Spectrum which is situated in Clifton Grove, is a non for profit organisation that promotes connection and engagement amongst our elderly community. On these Tuesdays, our students have been with some beautiful elderly members of the Vietnamese community. It has been such a delight to watch how much fun and pleasure our students have brought to these lovely people.

Yours Sincerely

Mark
