They say a week is a long time in politics … well it is a long time in a school too.

The Year 10 students finish their formal program at school this week. Next week, they will commence their work experience. Best wishes to all students as they explore the world of work and look at potential career pathways.

College Handbook

The College Handbook is an essential tool and resource for the College as it describes and outlines our philosophy, expectations and standards as to how the College functions.

In addition, it provides details concerning any consequences and sanctions that may need to be applied because a student’s behaviour is not meeting the required standards and expectations. It does not and cannot cover every situation and/or scenario that may arise, so at times, we will need to look at the individual circumstances and make informed decisions in keeping with the College’s philosophy and any precedence that may be set as a result. Early communication and clarification with the College is always the best practice.

All students and parents/carers need to ensure they have accessed and read the College Handbook and understand how it will be implemented. Each year, students and parents/carers sign the ‘Completed Signed Forms Booklet’ to say they have read and understand various important aspects, policies and procedures from the Handbook before the commencement of school for 2024. This should mean there are no surprises when the Handbook needs to be referred to throughout the year.

Principal Position 2024

This week, the College was informed that Steve Watt, the substantive College Principal, will continue as the Acting Director of Agriculture Education in Central Office for Term 1 and 2 2024. Steve will then take some well-earned long service leave for Term 3 and 4 2024.

The Department of Education has indicated they will be advertising the Principal position for this 12-month period. As and when more details are known, the College Community will be kept informed.

Parent Surveys

Thank you to the 36 parents from the Year 11 cohort of 68 who completed the survey. The College will now review this data as part of its end-of-year reporting process and use this to guide, inform and improve the offerings and operation of the College.

To date, 22 parents from the cohort of 47 Year 10 parents/carers have already provided feedback via the survey. A reminder that the closing date for Year 10 parents is on 4th December at 9.00 pm.

Compass

Compass has now been rolled out to our existing Year 10 students and parents/carers of our current Year 10 and Year 11 students.

Thank you and congratulations to those who have successfully accessed Compass. If parents/carers have not attempted to access via the Compass link that was previously sent, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

Please continue to navigate and explore the functionality of Compass. As part of the ‘News Feed, ’ parents/carers and students should be able to access the daily HACChat, the Weekly Wrap and other functions as indicated in the Weekly Wrap last week.

There is also a Mobile App available. IOS and Android applications are available for free from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.

Stay safe, look after each other and have a great weekend.
