Stage 3

Striving for Excellence

5/6O

5/6O have been enjoying learning about graphic novels in English this term. We have been spending time understanding the features of graphic novels and have recognised that they have a similar format to a comic. This week we spent time developing a story with a small group, following the structure of a narrative. Together, we used a website called Make Beliefs Comix to create a 9 frame comic.

5/6P

In science this term Stage 3 have been learning about energy. 5/6P have investigated electrical energy by creating electrical circuits. Students worked collaboratively to problem solve a series of circuit challenges and had lots of fun in the process!

Fisher's Ghost Writing Prize

Every year, the legend of Fisher's Ghost is celebrated in Campbelltown. Part of the Festival is the Fisher's Ghost Writing Prize. The Fisher's ghost Writing Prize is open to adult's and children above grade for who live in the Campbelltown area.

Writing works are judged on their creativity, originality, construction, use of language, character development and engagement with the theme, A Voice from the Shadows.

I am very happy to say we have two special mentions. Furqan Rahman from 5/6P was the winner, and Penny Brcic from 5/6M was highly commended, both in the poetry section Grade 4-6.

Congratulations to both of these students. It is amazing to see you apply your creative talent and we are very proud of you.
