Principal's Message

with Mr Brendan Gill

Dear families,

The last week has highlighted some great student achievements at the school.

Congratulations Adnan, Davi, Kyle and Hollie for receiving an award in the National History Challenge this evening.  They were proud to meet with Jeremy Rockliff, Premier of Tasmania. The project was titled 'Tasmania, then and now: Natural and built environmental challenges'. Students explored some serious debates that have occurred in the Tasmanian community, including; Lake Pedder, the Fight for the Franklin, commercial salmon farming, forestry and of course, the current Macquarie Stadium debate.

A big shout out to Mrs Jaegar for supporting students with their entry. We are proud of these students for 'learning to think rigorously, so as to act rightly and to serve humanity better' - Saint John Paul II.

Congratulations to our students who entered the Eastern Shore Storytelling Showcase. The presentation ceremony was last Thursday. We had some really positive representation at John Paul II, as well as some reward recipients; Isobelle Oswin, Thea Meyer, Adnan Saifullah and Pavneet Kaur. Thank you to Mrs Andrea Watt for leading the Showcase for the Eastern Shore Cluster.

It was also great to see so many of our students at the Versatility Dance Concert on Saturday.  Having a dance school on site has been such a benefit to our students, and it was great to see so many of our students shine in this beneficial extracurricular opportunity. We currently have dance lessons happening for the whole school. All the students are still waiting for Mrs Hall to break out the worm like she promised!

We are fast approaching the time of year where everything seems to speed up.

With swimming, end of year excursions and events, as well as Christmas activities, the school is sure to be full of life! For the next month we have a special student raffle occurring, titled ‘Spreading the Love’. Every day we have a focus area and students can score a spreading the love card for making John Paul II Catholic School a special place this Christmas season. There are some great prizes to be won as well as just celebrating the goodness of our community. I like to think of it as a little shot of joy as the end of the year fast approaches.
