Whirlwind Week in 3-4TG!

What a fantastic week we have had in 3-4TG!

Maths Rotations: Multiplication & Division

Last week we continued to explore Multiplication and Division in our Maths lessons. In this learning area, we had group rotations throughout the week, which focused on building strategies for problem solving.

On any given day, our maths lesson looked like this.

After gathering together for a tool session and review of learning, we moved into groups.

One group had online tasks to complete and submit, one group were working together with hands-on activities, one group were completing written tasks or challenges, and the fourth group worked with the teacher.

The teacher session is designed to build upon skills in the learning area, with lots of explicit instruction, hands on materials and sharing of ideas.

The students are so good at beginning all their tasks immediately and they also pack up efficiently at the end. We really enjoy our Maths rotations lessons and get so much out of them!

Indonesian Day

We loved celebrating Indonesian Day on Wednesday!

Pak Kris always provides us with a fun day of cultural celebration. Thank you Pak Kris!

We wore red and white and took part in many learning tasks that were really enjoyable.

We made posters, puppets and had Indonesian booklets to complete. During play-time there were lots of activities, such as face painting, scavenger hunt and Indonesian games. All the classes took part in a dance and mask workshop.

Day for Daniel

On Friday, we wore a touch of red to school in honour of Daniel Morcombe.

We also raised money for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

The “Day for Daniel” focuses on teaching students how to recognise when situations don’t feel ‘right’, and what they can do if they feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Child Safety is our number one priority and the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has a lot resources and information to aid all children in keeping themselves safe and communicating their feelings.

SJV Sports Day

Our SJV Sports Day was the best! After having to postpone our original day due to awful weather, we were so excited to take part in our annual Sports Day. Lots of us wore our house/team colours and we all encouraged and supported our classmates to ‘have a go and do your best.’

We loved racing against each other, cheering on our house teams and having a great time. We were lucky that our games were in the morning and the weather was perfect! Our favourite games were Tug Of War, Chook in a Bucket and the Vortex throw.

And there are many more amazing experiences still to come this term....an incursion, excursion, sacrament celebration and our Christmas Carols evening, to name a few!
