2023 House Sports Day

The weather held out for us on Monday so we could hold our 2023 House Sports Day!

The day began with the students in years 3 to 6 participating in the fun games and activities rotations.  Some of the 8 activities included the shuttle relay, vortex, obstacle course and tug of war (with Mr Hoare!!)  By recess time, these students had competed with great effort and enthusiasm to earn points for their House team.

After recess, it was the Foundation to year 2 students turn to have some fun!  The students had learnt how to play the games and activities during PE classes, and were confident in showing their teachers and many parents and friends their skills such as throwing a vortex, tossing the chook and running in a relay!

After lunch the entire SJV school gathered on our Oval for the sprint races!  The noise and cheering was tremendous!  Every student won a ribbon depending on their place at the finish line - and again, every student was earning points for their team.  

Our finale this year was the annual Year 6 400m races - 2 laps of our oval, with the majority of the year 6 students choosing to take part.  This year our 400m Champions were Karissa and Ethan H - both won medals and will have their names engraved on the perpetual trophy.

Cheers followed quickly as scores were being tallied.  Results were close again this year - the final scores had Blue in 4th, Gold in 3rd, Green in 2nd and Red were 1st.  The first time Red House has won since 2009!
