Grade Two

All Grade 2 students have made a wonderful start to our final term, displaying increasing levels of independence and strengthening their friendships with their peers! We have especially enjoyed our recent excursion to ACMI, where all students were able to engage with various forms of media and arts to appreciate the history of moving pictures and experiment with filming themselves on the green screen. We are excited to celebrate the many upcoming events and learning opportunities this term!

Mathematics

In Mathematics, we have been consolidating our understanding of concepts. Students have continued to familiarise themselves with our place value system through the use of concrete materials, visual displays and mental computation strategies. They have also continued to explore the relationships between our operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division through various forms to assist their style of learning. Further effort at home to consolidate understanding of current concepts, continues to be encouraged by all classroom teachers.

English

Students have begun the term by immersing themselves into narrative writing through the exploration of different fiction series. This has equipped them with the descriptive language and further sparked their imagination in developing their own character cards with strong inside and outside traits. Students have now begun the process of writing their own narrative series, with particular attention on the structure and engaging language to capture the attention of their readers. We cannot wait to share these wonderful writing pieces with you!

Integrated

As we begin our exploration of Creativity this semester, students have developed unique creations with their dot designs. They have also developed a setting, where they have added unique detailed features to make the space more inviting and interactive. We cannot wait to see how our students' imaginations and use of the arts continue to shine during this unit!
