Dear Parents and families,
It has been a fun fiilled few weeks with a touch of Halloween entering our gates on Tuesday morning to recognise Hallows Eve. Our Year 3 campers headed off yesterday and we had our second prep orientation this week as well as our Year 1/2 sleepover and disco & dinner. There is always something exciting going on at Sacred Heart.
All Saints Day
Our Year 3-6 students attended an All Saints day mass on Wednesday morning. I have to commend Mr Blake and the year 5 students for their beautiful readings and for the way in which all students behaved so reverently throughout the mass. The junior students also had an All Saints day liturgy on Wednesday.
Yr 1 & 2 Dinner, Disco & Sleepover
On Thursday evening our year 1 and 2 students came to school for a delicious dinner and silent disco. It was so wonderful seeing the 1's and 2's having so much fun out of hours at school. There was even a few special birthdays celebrated! Our year 2's stayed overnight for a sleepver at school; an important step in our camping program. How well behaved they all were and the smiles on theor aces at breakfast time was priceless, especially for those students who felt a bit nervous beforehand. Thanks to Miss Moloney, Miss Prosser, Miss Donnelly and Mrs Harper for making this such a special event
Year 3 Ranch Camp
Our Year 3 students left happily yesterday morning leaving for camp and have had a wonderful time. This is certainly a rite of passage going on your very first camp. There are so many wonderful experiences for our students to experience away from their family. These experiences build reslilience in students (and parents) and create lifelong memories with their friends.
Sex Education Seminar
Thankyou to all the parents that attended the Sex Education online meeting on Wednesday evening. It was a most informative evening and Cath Mc Callig went through the classroom sessions and what its all about and how the program will be run in the different classes. We look forward to the classroom sessions and the follow up conversations at home that are critical for student knowledge on this sensitive topic. We have full faith in Cath and her expertise in this area. We are very grateful to our P & F for subsidising this important program. Thanks to Simon Brown for co-ordinationg this program for our 4-6 students.
As our long weekend is almost upon us it has come at an absolutely perfect time. Our students and staff have been working tirelessly during our testing week to see the wonderful progress our students are making in numeracy & literacy. We have refined our assessment procedures this year and all students have been extremely well supported to show us their best in their academic learning. Our teachers are extremely busy assessing students and preparing end of year reports.
Caring for our school.
It was a delight to see some enthusiastic Yr 4 students caring for our school environment and cleaning up our gardens. A huge thank you to Annabel, Ava, Sophie, Daniel and Grace for your care and responsibility of our school. You are wonderful ambassadors for our environment.
Term 4 Hats
As the weather warms up please ensure students have their hats at school.
All children should be wearing their hats on the yard at recess and lunchtime and during Class Sport and PE.
Have a wonderful well deserved long weekend, relax and I hope our Yr 2 & 3 campers have a well needed rest,
Brigid Pennington
