Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and treat foot and ankle conditions
Manage sports injuries and movement issues
Treat foot problems related to diabetes and chronic disease
Perform minor surgical procedures (e.g. ingrown toenails)
Prescribe orthotics and footwear advice
Educate patients on injury prevention and foot care.

Study Pathway:
Step 1: Complete an Accredited Degree
Podiatry is a specialised professional degree (no majors).
Common degree titles:
Bachelor of Podiatry
Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine
Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry)
Step 2: Professional Registration
Graduates must register with AHPRA
Only registered practitioners can use the title “Podiatrist”.

High-risk foot specialist (e.g. diabetes care)
Podiatric Surgeon (with further training)
