St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.
What a wonderful term of learning it has been! Our Foundation students have settled in and are learning the rhythm and routines of school well. I hope everyone can take time over the school holidays to rest and recharge batteries, ready for another term of exciting learning.
Students start Term 2 on Tuesday 21 April, as staff will be participating in a Faith Formation day on Monday 20 April. We will be deepening our thinking around what it means to be Eucharistic people.
My time in Lorne last week was a great opportunity for me to reflect on my leadership, with great input from a variety of speakers who provided different perspectives. The standout speaker for me was Gilbert Enoka who has a long history with the All Blacks, first as their mental skills coach and then as All Blacks Manager- Leadership. He is currently consulting with Chelsea Football Club in the UK. Gilbert spoke to us about creating and maintaining high performing teams, and stressed that experience without reflection does not grow an individual and that improvement cannot happen if it is not spoken about. He left us with many thought provoking sound bites which I am still processing!
This weekend marks the beginning of the Easter season in the Catholic church. Our Holy Week liturgies have shared the story of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. For photos, read 'Our Faith Journey' page. Sunday is the celebration of Christ's resurrection from the dead and marks the end of Holy Week, the end of Lent, and the beginning of the Easter season of the liturgical year.
As we know from the Gospels, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day following his crucifixion, which would be Sunday. His resurrection marks the triumph of good over evil, sin and death. It is the singular event which proves that those who trust in God and accept Christ will be raised from the dead. It is the most important holiday on the Christian calendar.

We wish Trish Nash all the best as she heads into retirement! It has been a week of celebrating her contributions to St Peter's School over 26 years. Thank you Trish for your faith filled presence around the school.
I thank John Corkill, representing Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), who presented Trish with a certificate of service.

Loving God,
Bless Ms Trish as she steps into this new season of life. May her days be filled with peace, her heart with joy, and her life with the same love she has shared with others. May she always know how deeply she is appreciated, and may Your presence guide her always. Amen

Congratulations are extended to Lakota Dugan who announced his engagement recently. We wish the happy couple all God's blessings as they prepare for their future together.
I thank all staff for their work in Term 1 and hope that they can restore their batteries over the holidays and come back refreshed for Term 2. I wish all our families a restful break too and enjoy the blessings of Easter.
See you on Tuesday 21 April.
