Exploring Future Pathways in Defence
On Tuesday 17th March, interested students from Inverell High School, Macintyre High School and Ashford Central School attended an Australian Defence Force (ADF) information session hosted at Inverell High School.
Students gained insight into the many pathways into Defence, from foundation and bridging courses through to direct ATAR entry. A key message was that there is no single pathway, with options available to suit a wide range of interests and strengths.
Presenters also shared their own experiences and highlighted training opportunities, scholarships, apprenticeships and university-supported programs available through the ADF.
Allied Health Workshops
The first workshops for the Year 11 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance course were held today at Inverell High School.
We were pleased to welcome Rebecca from UNE Partnerships, who worked alongside students face-to-face to further develop the practical skills they have been building in their weekly online classes.
From mastering the correct procedures for donning and doffing PPE until it became second nature, to practising infection control and the safe cleaning of hazardous spills, students gained valuable hands-on experience throughout the session.
This workshop provided an excellent opportunity for students to strengthen their practical skills as they prepare for upcoming work placements and explore future pathways in allied health.
Congratulations Matilda!
A huge congratulations to Matilda for gaining her School Based Traineeship to undertake a Certificate III in Dental Assisting at Watkins Dental & Orthodontics.
Matilda’s School Based Traineeship will allow her to complete her formal qualification while gaining practical experience in a supportive working environment. Matilda will support the dentist and oral health therapist by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments and providing chairside assistance, under the supervision of the staff at Watkins Dental & Orthodontics.
Good luck Matilda as your School Based Traineeship will hopefully assist you to achieve your future career goal in dentistry.
