WELLBEING NEWS

Welcome to Our New Learning Centre!

We are excited to introduce the NEW Inverell High School Learning Centre – a vibrant, friendly, and welcoming space designed to support the diverse needs of our students and staff. Here, students can access individualised and group learning support, including intensive literacy and numeracy assistance tailored to help them achieve their best.

The centre also offers dedicated wellbeing support and a safe time-out area to build essential self-regulation skills, promoting resilience and emotional growth. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where every student feels supported, empowered, and ready to succeed.

We are thrilled to share this space with our wider school community as we work together to support your children in their learning and wellbeing journey.

Together, we are helping every student thrive!

EAL/D news in the Learning Centre

We are pleased to announce that some of our students have been eligible to participate in the New Arrivals Program (NAP), an intensive English language tuition initiative designed to support newly arrived students who are learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). This program offers one-to-one targeted English support, helping students develop their language skills in the classroom so they can confidently engage with the curriculum, their peers, and the wider Australian community.

This term, eligible NAP students, Vilimaina U, Jake S, and Marika U, also undertook EAL/D English proficiency testing through Central Sydney Intensive English High School for placement in the Intensive English Outreach program. We are pleased to announce that all three students were successfully placed.

The Outreach program placed each of these three students in a class tailored to their individual English proficiency level, where they attend daily online lessons at the Learning Centre with a specialist English language teacher.

We are committed to supporting our students’ English language development and are excited to see their progress through this targeted program.

Celebrating Kindness and Resilience with GEM Mail!

At Inverell High School, we are proud to recognise and celebrate students and staff who  embody the core values of the Resilience Project: Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness. Our GEM Mail initiative continues to promote a positive and supportive school culture by acknowledging those who demonstrate kindness, emotional awareness, and peer support in their everyday school lives.

A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers for fostering an environment where these important social-emotional skills can flourish and for actively participating in the GEM Mail program by recognising efforts across all year groups.

Congratulations to our Term 1 major GEM Mail award recipient - Javon G Yr 12! Your consistent demonstration of gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness inspires us all. Keep shining and leading by example!

Let’s continue to build a resilient, compassionate school community together!
