North West Clontarf Rugby League Trials
The North West Clontarf Rugby League Trials were held at Farrer Agricultural High School on Tuesday afternoon.
The trials provided a great opportunity for our Clontarf boys to impress selectors and push for selection in the North West Clontarf representative team, which will compete in Term 2. From there, selected players will also have the chance to earn a place in the NSW side to take on the Queensland Clontarf Academy team later in Term 2.
For our Year 12 students, led by North West Captain Richard Sines, this was their final opportunity to showcase their skills at the trials.
It was a strong hit-out for the boys, who represented our school well and impressed selectors with their efforts. Farrer proved to be a quality side, and it was great to see our boys play some solid rugby league throughout the afternoon.
The team will be announced next week. Good luck to all of our boys who trialled.
Road Safety Awareness
Tuesday our Year 10, 11 and 12 Clontarf Academy members had the opportunity to hear from Louise from Narrabri and North West Training, who spoke with the boys about road safety.
With many of the boys either holding or working towards their Learner or Provisional licences, the session was highly engaging and relevant. A highlight of the day was the practical activity using “beer goggles”, where students attempted an obstacle course to experience the effects of impaired vision and reaction time. It was a valuable and eye-opening experience for all involved.
On Wednesday, the Inverell Academy joined six other North West Clontarf academies – Moree, Narrabri, Gunnedah, Quirindi, Oxley and Tamworth – at the North West Employment Forum held at the Mercure Event Centre in Tamworth.
Clontarf partners connected with over 100 Academy members, sharing insights into employment pathways, opportunities within their organisations and how students can apply once they complete their schooling.
Students also heard from a range of guest speakers, including our Principal, Mr Fowke.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our boys to explore future pathways, build connections and gain valuable insights into life beyond school.
