Year 7 Term 1 Reflection

Our Year 7 students gathered this week for our Celebration Assembly, recognising achievements, positive behaviour and community spirit across Term 1.

Student leaders revisited our core values of Persistence, Excellence, Community and Respect, sharing examples of how these are lived each day in classrooms, in the yard and during activities.

Congratulations to our Year 7 leaders who were elected after a rigorous selection process.

Leaders presented a recap of their recent camp experience, celebrating teamwork, resilience and fun, plus recognition of our Tug of War champions 7D and 7G!

Students shared highlights from Swimming and Athletics, Year 7 Sport and the EXCEL Touch Football Championships, where both teams reached the grand final.

Year 7 students have earned 383 positive behaviour posts this Term, an outstanding achievement. Individual awards were presented for Persistence, Excellence, Community and Respect, alongside recognition of the top three highest point‑earners.

We celebrated 29 students who achieved 100% attendance in Term 1. Well done to these students.

It has been a fantastic term celebrating the achievements of our Year 7 students.

Year 8 Robotics

Year 8 students have shown great creativity throughout the robotics unit, designing and building their own LEGO robots. During the term, they programmed their robots to navigate a series of coloured mazes, using sensors and coding skills to detect and follow different paths.

Students developed their ability to problem-solve, while testing and refining their designs to improve performance. It has been fantastic to see their creativity, persistence and teamwork on display as they brought their robots to life and evaluated their design during these challenges.

Year 9 Term 1 review

In Term 1, Learning for Life students participated in a range of experiences both in and out of the classroom to support their wellbeing and development. In Health Education, wellbeing workshops were offered to support personal growth and understanding. Students identified help-seeking strategies to support their mental health. Through a Toolbox Education workshop, students developed skills to recognise and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, build resilience and strengthen positive coping strategies.

In addition, the Year 9’s first city trip experience provided them with a cultural learning experience that supported the work studied during the Australian History unit. During this day, students participated in a teacher-led tour of Melbourne, exploring significant landmarks and learnt about the history of these places. Students also took part in a city challenge. 9D and 9E were the two mentor groups that successfully completed the most challenges on the day. Congratulations to these two classes; they will enjoy a hot chip lunch as a reward in Term 2.

Unfortunately, our visit from Alex Kerr has had to be postponed until next Term. We are looking forward to an authentic opportunity to explore Indigenous perspectives, storytelling and identity through contemporary art. This incursion will help promote self-awareness, cultural respect and critical thinking.
