Year 10 

The Year 10 students have had a busy last few weeks of Term 1. 

Blue Edge Leadership Program

Our Year 10 students who have been part of the Blue Edge Leadership Program this Term headed out to Merinda Park Community Centre to volunteer their time at a Kindergarten program. The Blue Edge Program is an 8-week program for two hours a week that the school offers, which aims to develop students' leadership and mentoring skills for outside and within the school community.  The students cooked and played games with the children.  They also did some work in the garden of the community centre.  The students had a great day and were able to see how giving some of their time to volunteer support in a community centre like this can be rewarding and beneficial for themselves and the community.

The Blue Edge program also hosted a community day event in one of its sessions. This involved key community members joining the students for their session, including local police officers and the local fire brigade and paramedics.  During this session the students completed their CPR requirements. The students also were able to engage with police vehicles and fire emergency vehicles. The students thoroughly enjoyed this session.

Home Group 

As part of the Year 10 Homegroup program this term, the students attended an incursion called ‘Consent Labs'. This one-hour presentation covered educating the students on the details and the laws around consent and intoxication. It presented scenarios that the students discussed and allowed them to consider boundaries, red flags and then educated them on safety tips when these types of situations arise.  The students participated in all activities and all students left with some great knowledge and information for their own life skills. 

We wish all our students a wonderful break for the school holidays, and we look forward to next term. We will have our first-Year level assembly in week 1 of Term 2 where we will discuss upcoming events, such as work experience. Enjoy your break!
