Year 9 and 10 Overview

End of Term Wrap-Up
What a full and productive term it has been.
Classrooms have been busy, focused and, at times, delightfully stretched as students stepped into new challenges.
At the beginning of the term, we partnered with families through our Information Nights. Year 9 students explored building strong, reliable study habits to support their learning and future pathways, while Year 10 students began thinking ahead to Work Experience, developing effective study spaces and using planners to organise their time with purpose.
Across both year levels this term, teachers have been working on our new Assessment and Reporting processes. Students have had increased opportunities to demonstrate their understanding in a variety of ways, alongside more targeted and timely feedback. This approach is designed to support growth, build confidence, and ensure students understand not just what they are learning but also how they are progressing.
Looking Ahead to Term 2
Year 9
Term 2 is a great opportunity for a reset and a refresh. Students should:
- Review their equipment and replace exercise books where needed
- Ensure their laptop is fully functional and organise repairs if required
- Continue settling into elective classes and core groups
- Make positive, healthy decisions that give them the best chance to learn.
We will also begin collecting work samples to showcase at our Celebration Evening in Term 4, so students are encouraged to take pride in their work and keep track of their best efforts.
Year 10
As students move into Term 2, there is a growing focus on Work Experience in Term 3. Over the holidays, students are encouraged to:
- Explore possible placements that align with their interests and potential pathways
- Begin making thoughtful, informed choices about where they would like to go.
Students have now largely settled into their electives, and the focus remains on strengthening study habits. Maintaining these habits over the holidays by applying skills to real-world situations, whether through part-time work, personal projects or independent study, will make a meaningful difference.
