Year 7

Term 1 reflection

Wow! Term 1 is done and dusted, and what a jam-packed term it's been! Orientation week, camp, NAPLAN, Swimming Sports, new classes, new friends, new teachers, and that's just naming a few! Term 1 has been a busy, but an amazing one. We hope that you have a restful holiday period and can't wait to see you back for Term 2. Remember, we have the Athletics Carnival first day back, so make sure you come in your House colours and with your running shoes on.

NAPLAN

During week 7 the entire Year 7 cohort participated in NAPLAN. NAPLAN is an important tool in education, as it assists in the identification of any learning gaps that may exist to further support teachers in supporting the young people in their classrooms. As is often the case with such large-scale events, this was not without a few hiccups and saw the whole system going down as every student in grade 3, 5, 7 and 9 accessed it at the same time. Despite this, out Year 7s waited patiently without complaint. The classroom teachers, Learning Leaders and Principals were blown away by how every student conducted themselves, so from us all, thank you so much for your continued efforts.

Challenge Tuesdays

Our Year 7s have been partaking in Challenge Tuesdays every Tuesday at lunchtime. This has consisted of minute-to-win-it style challenges for them to earn points for their Homegroup. It has been great to see our Year 7s teamwork to complete these challenges. A special mention to 7A who are our Term 1 Challenge Tuesday winners on 73 points!! Please make sure to come see the Year 7 Leaders to redeem your celebratory lunch 😊

Meet the Captains: 7A and 7B

In our second edition of ‘Meet the Captains’, this week we sat down with our homegroup captains from 7A and 7B; Scarlett and Micah.

Scarlett is part of our Dance Academy, so there are no surprises that she loves her dance outside of school. At school, she has identified that she loves Science because of all of the interesting facts she learns. When asked about what she is most excited about this year in her role, Scarlett identified she is excited about making sure everyone feels included and gets to have a go.

Our second Homegroup Captain is Micah from 7B, the first of our three Basketball Academy classes. Micah loves anything physical activity related, and his favourite subject is PE, playing basketball and footy outside of school. Micah is extremely excited to be a positive role model for those around him this year.

We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you both achieve this year!

If your young person or someone you know has achieved some amazing things (both inside of school and outside), please let us know!
