Senior Boys Cricket
Early in the term we had a Senior Boys Cricket team represent Berwick College against Gleneagles, Hallam and Nossal High School. We played well at times and at times the opposition got the better of us, especially when playing Nossal H.S who were unbeaten on the day and will progress to the next round. The level of commitment and preparation by the team before the day was impressive and the students should be proud of their efforts even though the results on the day weren’t in our favour. Well done boys!
February 25 - Year 8 Boys Cricket Day
The Year 8 Boys Cricket Team went to Sweeney Reserve to represent our school in three games against Timbarra, Gleneagles and Lysterfield Lake College. Our first game was against Gleneagles who had some accomplished batsman and pacy accurate bowlers. We put up a good fight, but in the end lost by 20 runs chasing a high score. Against Timbarra and Lysterfield Lake we had two very close games. It was a good chance to mix up the batting order to see how the less confident boys deal with the pressure. It was a great day, and we were extremely proud of the sportsmanship shown and the efforts they all put in. Great effort boys!
Congratulations to our Inter Girls Volleyball team for a great day at inter school sport! The girls showed great teamwork and confidence as they competed against four other schools, winning some sets along the way and putting together some strong rallies throughout the day.
Inter boys Volleyball – Thursday 5 March
It was an exciting day of volleyball, with both our A and B teams showing great effort, improvement, and team spirit across all matches.
The A team delivered some outstanding moments, particularly in their match against Timbarra, where they pushed the game to a third set, narrowly losing by just one point due to time. There was fantastic serving across the team, along with impressive defensive efforts. Akshay stood out with some excellent digs and a committed chase to keep the ball alive. Bailey also made some great on-court decisions, contributing strongly to the team’s performance. A special mention to Thenuka, who played one of the games in Crocs after forgetting to change his shoes!
The B team also had a strong showing throughout the day. Their match against Doveton A was a highlight, with a close second set that ended 21–19. Hugo’s energy and court coverage were exceptional, consistently chasing down balls and keeping rallies alive.
Ben Hand showed significant improvement across the day, bouncing back from some early serving challenges to deliver a much stronger second game. His development earned him “Most Improved” honours for the B team.
Off the court, Hugo also demonstrated great leadership, stepping in to coach the A team while his team had a Bye.
A humorous reminder for some players that this was volleyball, not soccer, but the enthusiasm and competitiveness were fantastic to see!
Overall, it was a great day of volleyball, with both teams showing determination, growth, and excellent sportsmanship. Well done to all involved!

Year 7 Tennis
On 25 March, our Year 7 students proudly represented the school at the Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre. The Boys team achieved a strong win against Gleneagles and competed hard against Lysterfield, but were unable to progress further. The girls team, despite having no opponents in their division, conducted themselves exceptionally and will move on to the next stage.
All students should be proud of their efforts, demonstrating excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude throughout the day. They truly reflected our school values of aspiration, belonging, community, diligence, and excellence.
Year 8 Tennis
On Thursday 12 March, the Year 8 Boys and Girls Tennis team ventured out to Pakenham Regional Tennis centre to represent Berwick College. This was the division level of the competition.
