STAGE 3 NEWS
Last term our unit for History was “Aboriginal Peoples have diverse Languages”. In this unit we learnt all about how interactions between Aboriginal Peoples and early colonial settlers led to the recorded sources of Aboriginal Languages and the benefit of Aboriginal Languages rival.
We researched and learnt about what life was like for different groups of people in the Australian Colonies, including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We examined settlement patterns, the environmental impact of colonisation and the daily lives of the early settlers.
We then turned our learning into creative projects using dioramas and visual projects.
In Personal Development and Health, our lessons targeted skills and strategies to interact safely in offline and online contexts. We learnt to use skills such as as identifying and applying strategies to contribute to safety in online environments. We learnt ways to report negative, harmful or unsafe situations to trusted adults or in online tools. Stage 3 can now demonstrate and explain how respectful and responsible digital citizen behaviours enhance online safety and how and when to assertively gain, give or deny consent when sharing information online and promote help-seeking strategies.
