News of the Week

Dear Parents and Friends
Welcome to the Term Two Student Newsletter.
This term, the sports leaders will be writing the newsletter. This week we will be writing about the District Cross Country, Swimming, the ANZAC Day March, what people did on the holiday, and Walk Safely to School Day.
District Cross Country Training
This week we interviewed three members of our District Cross Country team. We asked then if they like getting up in the morning to train? We also asked them if they are looking forward to District Cross Country on the 13th of May?
Christina: I don't mind getting up early in the morning but it is hard because I´m so tired. I am very much looking forward to the District Cross Country because I love cheering my classmates on.
Blake: I like getting up in the morning to train but it is a bit cold and sometimes tiring. I'm looking forward to the District Cross Country because I am excited to go with my friends.
Josh: I like waking up in the morning to get fresh air and train. I am looking forward to the District Cross Country because I want to try and get into Division.

No but I still know how to swim.
ANZAC Day March
ANZAC Day was last Friday. Families from St Brigid’s joined Mrs Marziano, Mrs Ripp and Mrs Thedgold in the March to the Mentone RSL. We thank Blake, Lacey, Ava C, Louise, Luke, Tahlia X, Charlotte D, Liam W, Sarah, Che, Jye, Riley G, Lucas and their families for joining the March and representing the school with pride.
Lacey
What did you do there?
We marched down the road in honour of the ANZACs and laid down a flower wreath and a diary about a soldier.
How did participating in the march make you feel?
I felt proud of myself as I was one of the few from the school who took the time out of their day off to honour the people who fought for our country.
What part of the ceremony stood out to you the most?
I think the Ode was a very important part of the ceremony because that is a special ANZAC day tradition.
Blake
What role did you have in the march?
I was one of the people who carried the flag and later I carried up a wreath and the book.
Who was there?
There were a lot of people who went to war and they told us about their story and all the schools in our community came.
Did you learn anything new?
I learnt how people dealt with their war experiences.
Our Holidays
What did you do on your holidays and what was your favourite part?
Cleo (Foundation): I went to a football game on the holidays and that was my favourite part.
Michael B (1/2R): I went to a caravan park on the holidays and my favourite part of the holidays was doing an Easter egg hunt.
Levi (3/4D) I went to Inverloch and my favourite part of the holidays was surfing at the beach.
Charlotte (5/6): I went to the historical J Ward Asylum Museum on the holidays and my favourite part of the holidays was going camping at the Grampians with my friend Daphne.
Walk Safely to School Day
The walk-to-school day will be on Thursday, 15th May.
We encourage everyone to walk, ride, or scoot on this day. If you live too far away, you could walk from a short distance and then get dropped off at school. Mrs Thredgol`d will be at the Peanut Park (Ben Kavanagh Resve Playground - corner of Chute and McDonald Streets) at 8:00 am if anyone wants to meet and walk together to school.
Looking forward to seeing all of you there!!
Where’s Wendy?
Mrs Sullivan has left Inverness and has been up in the highlands of Scotland - highland cows, Loch Ness and of course another castle- Caedor Castle!
How clever to see Nessie! The England leg started on Monday.
Mother's Day Breakfast & Stall
We are really looking forward to having Breakfast with our Mum's next Friday. Just a reminder to RSVP via the Operoo request sent this week so we know how many we are making breakfast for.
Our annual Mother's Day Stall will be held on Thursday. There will be a $10.00 per student limit. Don't forget to come to school on Thursday with your money!
Next Week - Winter Uniform
Just a reminder that next week we will all be in our winter uniforms.
Winter Uniform can be purchased from PSW Uniform Shop - 1 Age Street, Cheltenham will be open over the holidays. Please note girls winter tunics and skirts are not available at PSW. They can be ordered online via CDFpay app. See Tracey regarding sizes when school returns. We are still selling a few other items via CDFpay - winter beanies, school hats, St Brigid's sports socks and girls winter tunics and skirts. Our winter beanies are great for the colder months and cost $15.00. Now that we have a St Brigid's beanie, no other beanies can be worn at school.
A reminder to our Foundation to Year 4 families - swimming continutes next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wes week 2 of Term 2 and the children will be wearing their sports uniform for the 8 days of the swimming program.
St Brigid's School of Magic
We also wanted to give a BIG shout out to Sigi who has done a fantastic new display in the foyer. If you have walked via the office this week you will see the St Brigid's School of Magic showcasing all our wonderful staff. The Year 6 students are very impressed with Mr Cochrane's outfit!
We hope you enjoyed our first Student News Letter.
