This Week's Learning Bulletin: Wellbeing

This week’s Bulletins focus on how we support student wellbeing across each year level. At school, we help children develop the skills and strategies they need to be happy and healthy.

We encourage you to read your child’s bulletin as it offers practical ways you can support their wellbeing at home. By working together and using consistent language, we can strengthen these important life skills both at school and at home.

Homework and Wellbeing at Armadale Primary School

At Armadale Primary School, we view homework as a positive opportunity to support your child’s learning and wellbeing, not as a source of pressure. When purposeful and balanced, homework helps reinforce skills, builds independence, and connects learning between school and home.

Short tasks, like reading, spelling practice, or number facts, encourage good habits in a relaxed environment. While applying learning outside the classroom can be challenging at times, with encouragement and support, children begin to see that learning happens everywhere.

Homework also offers valuable time for families to connect, celebrate progress, and share in your child’s learning journey.

Our approach follows Department guidelines and reflects our school values:

  • Respect – valuing learning time
  • Responsibility – managing tasks and time
  • Relationships – engaging in learning with others
  • Resilience – tackling challenges and persisting
  • Reflection – thinking about progress and next steps

When reflecting,  progress isn’t only shown through completed tasks. Support your child to notice how well they organised themselves; how independently they tackled challenges, or how they can approach learning positively.

Who Does What?

  • Children complete tasks and ask for help when needed
  • Parents support routines, provide a calm space, and encourage balance
  • Teachers assign meaningful, age-appropriate tasks and offer feedback

Homework is one way we help students grow into capable, confident learners. Please familiarise yourself with our homework policy:

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
