John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families

John XXIII College hosted the first IGSSA regatta last Saturday, and it was a great success! Thank you to all families who donated items for the raffle, baked cakes and put together the raffle prizes, cake stall and potted up plants to sell. Thank you to all the parents and rowers who volunteered on the day, either for the barbecue or running the other stalls. This was a major fundraising opportunity for our Rowing Club and we greatly appreciate everyone’s contribution.

IGSSA JTC Regatta #1

Mettams Long Distance Regatta

The boys' squad are taking the opportunity tomorrow to race in the long-distance race at Canning Bridge. The doubles and singles race 3km and the quads and eight are racing 4.5km, starting in Shelley and racing back to Canning Bridge. Head races allow crews to practice maximum efforts with a lower rating and to push themselves over a longer distance. Details are on the Stack app.

2025 Year 8 Learn to Row

Our Year 8 Learn to Row sessions have commenced with almost 50 Year 8s experiencing rowing, many for the first time. They have made great progress in their two sessions on the water, and we look forward to seeing their progress each week.

Details will be sent out regarding the opportunity to compete in the All Schools regatta soon.

Year 7 Learn to Row

The Year 7 Learn to Row program will be held in Term 3, details and registration will be sent out towards the end of the term.

Please contact me if you have any queries.

Uniforms

The new Zootsuit is now in stock at the Uniform Shop. There is also a training top which can be worn under the zootsuit. The only compulsory item is the Zootsuit for racing at regattas. There is stock of the old Zootsuit which can be worn. Year 8s can wear their PE uniform to race in and are not required to purchase a Zootsuit.

Stack Team App

Please download the Stack Team App if you have not already done so. This app is one of our main avenues for communication with rowers and their parents. This is the central place for training schedules, training updates, and rowers can contact their coach in case of illness or injury and missed trainings. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.

To get this app please go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:

  1. Sign-up to Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
  2. Log-in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.
