Snapshots from the week

Year 7 Camp at Emu Gully

Mud, mates and memories….

Welcome to the Year 7 camp. After a week of climbing, crawling, sliding and jumping, our Year 7s have returned from a wonderful experience at Emu Gully Adventure Camp.

Students were challenged in various aspects of camp life from personal responsibilities to the enthralling and military themed activities. Emu Gully challenges students to positively contribute to a team environment developing resilience, empathy and their support of others.

Students have forged new friendships and created connections that has seen the cohort grow and come together, promising success for the duration of their high school years. Emu Gully is one of the highlights of the Year 7 Calendar and creates lifelong memories.

Cultural Influences in Year 10 Hospitality

This week in Hospitality, our Year 10 students teamed up with Mrs Greenwood to roll, fold, and fill their own handmade tortellini from scratch.

From kneading dough to perfecting the twist, students got hands-on experience in pasta making — with delicious results! It was a fun and flavoursome way to build culinary skills and confidence in the kitchen.

Cubesats Research & Building

Students are hard at work on Thursday, building and researching CubeSats as part of their space science project. Real-world innovation is happening right here on campus! Mr Ford is always keeping lessons exciting, focusing on one of our core principles: Innovation.

Lunchbox Sessions Recap

This week's Lunchbox Sessions gave students a bite-sized boost of inspiration during breaks, with guest speakers, hands-on activities and helpful insights into careers, study skills, and wellbeing.

Each session was designed to be relaxed, relevant, and rewarding — helping students explore opportunities beyond the classroom while connecting with peers and staff in a casual setting.

Mother's Day High Tea

Balmoral was proud to support the annual Chaplaincy Fundraiser at Bulimba SS — and our students absolutely delivered. From plating up to packing down, they brought the heat in the kitchen and style on the floor.

Massive love to Chappy Luka for always repping Balmoral with heart and humour 💙🙌We’re proud to back events that bring our community together and give students real-world experience

Debating Wrap Up

This week our year 9 students had their third-round debate, arguing about whether national sporting leagues should only be played in their country of origin.

9.1 unfortunately lost to Canterbury College after a well fought debate while our 9.2 team was victorious against Clairvaux MacKillop.

The Balmoral Dance Company

The Balmoral Dance Company took a trip to the Ipswich Combined Dance Festival last Thursday for the first competition as a company. The girls competed in both the Hip Hop and Contemporary sections against 12 other schools.

I was incredibly proud of their efforts, camaraderie and behaviour on the night. They showed so much courage and resilience throughout the evening and represented us with excellence. I look forward to seeing these founding members grow our company.

Thank you to the parents for the travel and support they showed the girls, and myself. The Balmoral Dance Company can next be seen performing at our Open Day in week 5.
