A special ANZAC Day Assembly was held at DPWPS on Thursday, 24th of April.
Our students listened attentively to the background information about the significance of ANZAC Day, stood quietly during the ‘Last Post’ and took part in a minute of silence.
Other symbols of respect that were incorporated into this assembly included the ‘The Ode’ being read aloud by Mr Camilleri, the Australian flag being lowered to half-mast on the flagpole and the laying of a wreath of flowers on behalf of our school community.
I would like to acknowledge the students that participated in various aspects of the assembly: the School Captains: Aria 6A & Jeslyn 6B and Vice Captains: Elizabeth 6C & Kim 6B as well as a small number of other students from various year levels that brought flowers from home to place at the base of the flagpole.
Thank-you for taking part in this important commemorative assembly.
ANZAC Day badges: Thesale of ANZAC Day badges & wristbands raised $130.00. Thank-you to everyone who purchased a badge and an extra ‘Thank-you’ to Miss Myall for overseeing the sale of these items at the School Office. The money we raised will be sent directly to the Sunshine R.S.L, who always appreciate our support.

This week in Gardening Club, we were finally able to harvest some of our veggies! The students used their muscles to pull out plenty of celery and spring onions. We also collected some beautiful red leaf lettuce!
We have plenty of strawberries, pumpkins, broccoli, tomatoes, and lettuce growing, so keep an eye out for those harvest day pics!
Gardening Club runs every Tuesday at recess—come on down and join the team!
At Deer Park West Primary School, every Wednesday the school participates in Waste Free Wednesday. The students are encouraged to bring a lunch box with NO RUBBISH for both recess and lunch. This is a great way to reduce the amount of waste we create in order to make the earth healthier.
Please assist your child/children in doing this by taking items out of their packets before coming to school.
Thank you,
