                         -              with Kate

This week in Music and at other times during the week, all classes have been learning songs from our musical We are Monsters

This week, the Year 4-6 students auditioned for a role in the musical. Rebecca, Amanda and I were present for each audition group and collaborated on the decisions. We chose students based upon a range of things - clarity of speech, voice projection, stage presence and potential and if they were trying out for certain roles; their ability to sing in tune. All students were so fantastic and made our job quite difficult in choosing different students for roles - it was like fitting a jigsaw puzzle together!  We are very proud of the way students have embraced their acting and singing parts with so much enthusiasm. There is quite a buzz in the school!

The musical story is about appreciating other's differences and friendship - all shared through the eyes of friendly monsters, vampires and werewolves.

Our performance will be in the last week of Term Two on the evening of Thursday 3rd of July, at the theatre of Our Lady of Mercy College in Heidelberg; so please keep that date free.  More details will follow in the weeks to come!

Foundation in Music

This week, not only did Foundation students learn some more songs from our Musical...we began meeting a number of different animal finger puppets that live in the Music Room. We had great fun singing hide and seek songs, singing 'How do you do?' to one another with our puppets and experimenting making different sounds that we thought our puppets would make.
