Ms Dzaferovic AP Message

Each Monday afternoon is a dedicated time for teachers to work together in a professional learning team (PLC) to analyse student learning data, continue professional learning, and plan for improvement.
The learning team (PLC) work collaboratively to analyse student learning data, engage in ongoing professional learning, and plan for continuous improvement. At TPS, we have adopted the ‘Teaching Sprints’ process to undertake this process.
Identify a focus based on student learning needs. Clarify the evidence-informed strategy. Define success criteria and plan how to measure impact.
| Implement the strategy over 1–4 weeks in classrooms. Collaboratively monitor progress. Use formative assessment and observation to adjust practice.
| Analyse impact data and reflect on student learning. Celebrate wins and discuss challenges. Decide on next steps (e.g., deepen the sprint, shift focus) |
The first PLC cycle for 2025 focused on "Embedding routines to maximise learning time – Tight Transitions." This focus area was directly aligned with our:
Annual Implementation Plan goal – Embed a wellbeing framework that ensures a supportive, inclusive, and respectful school environment.
Throughout the cycle, teachers:
- Collected pre-cycle data
- Engaged in professional reading, regularly referring to The Classroom Management Handbook and the Department’s Positive Classroom Management Strategies resource (launched in late 2024)
- Developed consistent scripts for use across the school and in individual classrooms
- Adjusted classroom resources to support smoother transitions between lessons
The current sprint cycle will focus on "Breaking down and sequencing learning to reduce cognitive overload." Teachers will continue refining their planning practices to ensure instruction is chunked into manageable parts, supporting clarity and improved student learning outcomes.
