Acting Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had a fantastic start to the school term, with students settling in beautifully and showing a clear commitment to our school values of respect and responsibility. It’s been wonderful to see these values demonstrated so positively in the school yard and across our classrooms, setting the tone for another great term of learning and growth.
Curriculum Day
Next Monday, our staff will engage in a valuable Curriculum Day focused on deepening our knowledge and practices in wellbeing. The day will include professional learning around maintaining positive classroom routines, developing strategies with the Zones of Regulation to support emotional awareness and self-regulation, and exploring effective strategies to support the diverse needs of our EAL (English as an Additional Language) students. This will be a great opportunity for our team to collaborate, reflect, and continue to strengthen the inclusive and supportive learning environment we strive to provide for all students.
Enrolments for 2025
As per the Department of Education timeline, we are currently accepting Foundation/Prep enrolments for 2026. If you have a child commencing next year or know of a new family, please ask them to contact the office for further information or refer them to our website. The closing date for enrolment applications for Foundation (Prep) for 2026 is Friday, 25 July 2025 (the first Friday in Term 3).
We’ve recently welcomed large groups of prospective families on school tours, providing them with a wonderful opportunity to explore our school and experience firsthand the vibrant learning environment we’re so proud of. It’s always a pleasure to showcase our outstanding teachers, dedicated staff, and incredible students who truly reflect the values and spirit of our school

Updates to our Ramps
Ramp upgrade works are currently being undertaken, by the Victorian School Building Authority, as part of the Department of Education's ongoing commitment to creating a safer and more accessible school environment. Over the coming term, all four ramps around the school will be upgraded to improve safety and ensure inclusive access for all members of our school community. We appreciate your patience and understanding as this important work is completed.
Update on the Principal Role at TPS
Over the past few years, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to act in the position of principal at our amazing school while the substantive principal was on leave. I have recently been informed that the substantive principal, Mrs. Julie Manallack, has formally retired. Mrs. Manallack's commitment and dedication to Toorak Primary School over many years have had a lasting impact on our school community, and we thank her for her service and wish her all the best in retirement.
As we move forward, the next step in appointing a new substantive principal for TPS will be led by the SEIL (Senior Education Improvement Leader), Mr. Kevin Murphy. This process includes advertising the position and conducting a thorough selection process. Last night, Mr. Murphy led an information session with School Council members to outline what this will involve. Over the coming weeks, this process will continue, and we look forward to welcoming a newly appointed principal to begin in Term 3.
Once the new principal is appointed, I will be taking leave, to spend valuable time with my family and to pursue new opportunities within the Department of Education (DET), with the aim of contributing to a different area of the education sector.
It has been an incredible experience leading Toorak Primary School, and I’m deeply grateful for the support, collaboration, and shared commitment of our wonderful school community.
The school is in a fantastic position with an amazing community of fabulous students, outstanding staff, and a committed and supportive school parent body. The school’s outstanding results and the core leadership group and staff, who are committed to the vision of the school will continue the school’s journey with the newly appointed principal.
This is an exciting new chapter for the school.
We look forward to a really productive and engaging next couple of weeks with our forth coming Math’s night (a calendar event not to miss), Education week, Mother’s Day Luncheon and stall, French Day (with yummy crepes) and the Foundation students singing some songs for their special Mother or significant other.
Kind regards
Sharon Wildermuth
