Year 4
On Monday 18 November, Year 4 traveled to the Blue Mountains to learn more about this ancient landscape and its origins.
Here are some of the highlights from the students.
Jared learned that coal is formed from fallen trees. Franklin was impressed to learn that coal takes millions of years to form. Joyce enjoyed the magnificent views. Charlotte loved the beautiful landscapes and the majestic, tall trees. Barnaby was amazed to see a rock that was twice the size of Uluru. Amelia loved the pretty waterfalls, especially the sound of the water as it tumbled down. Jaxon was interested in the coal mine. Poppy liked seeing the different mosses on the way down, and the eroded rocks from the boardwalk. Everyone loved the seriously steep train ride, either going down (facing forward) or going up (facing backwards), even when going through the dark cave at speed! There was a lot of screaming! Polly was impressed that it is the steepest railway in the world and this type of railway was used to transport coal. Annabelle thought it was cool that there used to be seven sisters, but that three have eroded away and the fourth (that we can still see even though it is very small) is crumbling away. Tom was fascinated by the age of the rocks - millions of years old. Ms Fitzgerald enjoyed all the rides, especially the slide!
