Kingfishers go for hoops glory in regionals
The Intermediate Girls Basketball Team had an impressive journey to the regionals on Wednesday 16 October, where they faced tough competition. In their first game against Viewbank, the team put up a strong effort but unfortunately lost by 25 points, with a final score of 48 to 23.
Despite the setback, the girls demonstrated remarkable resilience and tenacity, coming together as a unit to secure a victory in their second game, defeating Mt Ridley College by 11 points, 27 to 16.
Their momentum continued into the third game, where they clinched a narrow 3-point win against Hazel Glen, 29 to 26.
In an interesting twist, since Hazel Glen had previously beaten Viewbank, all teams in our pool finished with two wins and one loss. The final standings came down to points, showcasing just how closely matched the competition was.
The girls played their hearts out, representing Preston High School with pride and determination. Their hard work and spirit on the court made us all proud. Go Kingfishers!
Medal moments for our Tenpin teams
Preston High's Tenpin bowling teams turned the recent Year 9/10 division competitions into a smashing success for our school.
Our students performed fantastically on the day under pressure from their opponents, with strikes and spares galore. One of our boys' teams walked away with bronze medals after a thrilling ses. Congratulations to Liam Fong, Aidan Thomas, Ryder Kusters and Barnaby Thomas.
And a big hurrah to the girls' teams who took Preston pride even further, picking up silver medals (and bragging rights) for the school. Well done to Mila Rantall-Kilzi, Adelaide Schroeders and Zainah Abuzaid.
Basketball boys claim finals berth
Cohort 2028 boys are off to the state finals in basketball next month after winning the Regional competition last week. They beat Coburg by a nail-biting 2 points in the final game to snatch the flag and advance to the next stage. Well done, fellas!
Oh what a Futsal feeling!
Preston's sporting success grew on the futsal court with two decisive victories in the Futsal Division Competition at the Darebin International Sports Centre.
Our team of Cohort 2028 boys easily won their divisional tournament on Wednesday. The victory came after only conceding one goal in four matches, and scoring 25 goals! Impressive!
And kudos too to our girls' A team who won every game in the group stage and then smashed the final 4-0, showing great team play and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Special shout outs to Chilli Cochis, Juliette Wilson and Celest Koh for their leadership and skill on the day.
