Celebrating our P & F
Last week Dr Lavorato and I had the pleasure of having dinner with our P&F Committee members. It was a great night where we were able to show our appreciation to them for the huge amount of work that they have done this year. They are a dedicated group of approximately 16 members ably led by our P&F President Elena Ierardo. It is this team that is responsible for so much that goes on at the College that supports all of your sons. They work tirelessly, not for themselves, but for everyone. They never complain, they just get in and roll their sleeves up and do the heavy lifting.
They do get some help from other parents/carers; however, I must say that for the most part it is the committee members that are at every barbeque at the weekend, selling raffle tickets and running trivia nights, as well as organising our spectacular Annual BBG Dinner and preparing meals for Father’s Day and our Major Works Night.
You may recall at your son’s enrolment interview that there was a question on how you could support our community in the way of volunteering to help at College events. The expectation is not that every parent or carer needs to volunteer at every event. I know how hard it is for working families to commit their time. However, if every family volunteered even just one hour of their time over the year to support the P&F, then that would take the pressure off our committee who do so much for our community.
As we move towards 2025, I would ask that everyone try next year to commit even just one hour or volunteer to help at one event over the course of the year. I have said it before, and I will say it again. Many hands make light work.
Once again, I cannot thank enough our wonderful P&F committee. They are a real blessing to our College.
